The vertical Magic Trackpad

Details
Released: 30 Oct 2019

These days there is a lot about ergonomics like standing desks (actually not that healthy without a treadmill) or vertical mice, which are in fact quite nice. So why not a vertical trackpad? Searching the web gives you only this from 2014.

Let's do it yourself, a bit of plywood, some nails and glue are enough.

Magic Utilities Knight

Happy new year 2019 to all our users out there on planet Earth.

A year ago we released the first beta version of the Magic Utilities 3.

A huge fan drew this lovely "Magic Utilities Knight". Thank you so much!

We spent the last month working a lot on an all new Bluetooth driver initialization which should finally fix all scrolling issues. For all Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad users this will make a big difference.

There is also an individual driver restart feature with a single click.

Seasons Greetings 2018

Details
Released: 19 Dec 2018

2018 has been a big year for the Magic Utilities. Version 3 with lots of new features arrived and most of you like it. After developing a new kernel driver framework in 2017, it started in January 2018 with beta testing until August with the first public release. There had been a few unexpected issues, but most of them have been fixed by now.

We are looking forward to a promising new year 2019 with lots of improvements.

Thank you for your valuable feedback, without YOU the Magic Utilities would miss half of its magic.

We wish you a magical Christmas and a fantastic year 2019.

Smooth scrolling or what's next

Details
Released: 02 Dec 2018

We actually started to work on better keyboard support to fix the swapped-keys issue. Sounds simple, but isn't. The Magic keyboard comes in 25 international keyboard layouts and three mechanical layouts (ISO, ANSI and JIP). While we get all the required pieces together, smooth scrolling initialization for mouse and trackpad strikes back.

We actually thought with release 3.0.5.5 it's finally solved. While it's much better it may still happen that Smooth scrolling doesn't work. There is no proper documentation and zero example code available.

As this potentially affects most of our users, we are back on the Smooth scrolling topic and made finally good progress. As a nice side effect you don't need to click or press a key to (re)connect to Bluetooth anymore. The Bluetooth connection is instant, except you power-cycle your device.

Fully customizable Modifier and F keys

Details
Released: 07 Oct 2018

The user interface for customizable keyboard is almost done, below a sneak preview animation. Let us know what you think.

You can map any Modifier key with another modifier key (Version 3.0.7.4) and any F key with whatever function you want.
A similar user interface for the F keys will later be used to customize Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad gestures.

Magic Mouse 2 Discharger

Details
Released: 01 Feb 2016

Doing battery readouts with a fully charged Magic Mouse 2 gives always the same values. Needed a discharged Magic Mouse 2 or a tool which moves the mouse continually. So we asked two 8 year old boys if they could develop a "mouse mover" with their Lego.

Amazingly clever these boys! They call it The Magic Mouse Discharger.

12 hours of constant run was about 5% discharge.
