Seasons Greetings 2024
What a year this was:
- We released stable version 3.1.4.5.
- The CoPilot+ PCs came and we finally needed to add support for the Windows on ARM platform.
- We used this to modernize all the underling frameworks and elevated the "Magic Utilities" applications to true 64 bit apps and added dark mode.
- As the last big task this year we added support for all new Apple devices with USB-C port.
- Finally we added Windows on ARM support for the Magic Keyboard Layouts.
As usual a very big THANK YOU to all our loyal users who make the Magic Utilities actually possible.
We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year 2025. Stay safe!

Seasons Greetings 2023

Virtual desktop animations are back in Windows 11
When Microsoft first released Windows 11 the Virtual Desktop change animations were missing if you used the keyboard shortcuts ctrl + win + left/right. Desktops were just changed without any animation. We got used to it. Changes were instant.
Now about two years later they are back. In the latest Windows 11 22H2 Build 22621.2715 with the latest security updates installed it works again.
However it's not as good as in Windows 10. There is a slight delay until the animation starts. In addition it now shows a popup of the Virtual Desktop name.
Why changing things back and forward all the time. Windows 10 animations were just simply good. Now they are delayed and have this annoying name popup all the time.
- Hello Microsoft, users know their virtual desktop, no need for a name popup every time!
- And while we replace our cars with EVs which have INSTANT acceleration, you make your new animations feel like an old Diesel engine.
- Is that the result of your new "Secure Future Initiative"? Delay bugs so they don't happen instantly?
- Is there still a human Q&A department at Microsoft?
Update: We fixed this in version 3.1.3.9. You can turn off swipe and keyboard animations, so switching a desktop is now instant (again).
Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection in Windows 11 22H2
Windows 11 22H2 has a new security feature: Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection.
The Magic Utilities version 3.1.3.2 are now compatible with the new security feature, download is here.
Dark mode has been added to the web site
Today we added dark mode to our new web site for all the night owls . Let us know if we missed something.
The new website is live
We have been quite busy setting up our new web site, the old framework gets no more updates in a few month. While it looks almost identical the underlying CMS has been updated and a lot of external dependencies have been removed.
If you read this and find something which isn't working (as expected) please let us know.
Seasons Greetings 2022
We wish all Magic Utilities users a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year 2023.
Windows 10 - 32bit support will be discontinued
When we started the Magic Utilities more than a decade ago our goal was to support any Windows version from Windows 7 upwards and we did for many years.
Things have changed. We already stopped new features for Windows 7+8.x. With Windows 11, Microsoft dropped 32bit support all together.
We did some statistical analysis and found that less than 0.1% of our sales are for any Windows 32bit version, that's less than 1 in 1000.
As building, testing and signing 32bit drivers is a time consuming task, we decided to discontinue Windows 10 - 32bit support sometime mid 2022.
This means older Windows 10 - 32bit versions will still be available for download and installation, but they do not get any further updates.
Version 3.1.2.6
This is the same as version 3.1.2.4 with a major bugfix for all Magic Utilities apps.
Fixed license expiry when the time zone was changed. Apologies to all users who have been affected!
Version 3.1.2.4
This is mainly a maintenance release for the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad apps.
Also adds a new feature to the large Magic Keyboards with Numeric Keypad.
