On some computers a device might not work after wake up from sleep or hibernation.

It's often random and we couldn't find the underlying reason yet but there are some workarounds.

Workarounds

To apply the workarounds, first show all config settings in the "Magic Utilities" application:

  • Select View > Advanced config settings from the menu.

Try out the workaround in the order presented below.

Avoid using more than one workaround at the time.

Don't close the driver handler on sleep

  • Deselect Driver > Driver handler settings > Close on computer sleep from the main menu.
Now restart the "Magic Utilities" application.

Restart the "Magic Utilities" application

Manually you can do this via the menus:

  • Select Exit > Restart application from the menu or
  • Right click on the system-tray icon and select Restart application.

In case this works, you can automate the application restart:

  • Select Exit > Restart application on wake up from the menu.

Restart the device driver

Manually you can do this via the menu:

  • Select Driver > Restart device driver from the menu.

In case this works, you can automate the device driver restart:

  •  Select Driver > Restart device driver on wake up from the menu.

Reinstall the device driver

Manually you can do this via the menu:

  • Select Driver > Reinstall device driver from the menu.

In case this works, you can automate the this:

  •  Select Driver > Reinstall driver on wake up from the menu.

Note: Reinstalling the device driver is hard work for your Windows system, please try all other options first.
